A Swim Bait's a Swim Bait, right? Wrong
Not all swim baits are built the same. Swim Baits must display several distinct characteristics in order to pass the muster with the true Swim Bait experts.
First, the bait must have good color and design and look realistic when in the water.
Second, the bait must run true at all retrieve speeds. Whether slow winding the bait or speed burning the bait back, it must run true and never try to roll over.
Third, the tail must always swim, even at slow speeds or when falling. Tail kick is a must when fishing a Swim Bait.
Lastly, the bait must be designed so the line runs through the nose at the correct angle to the underside of the bait where the bead and hook are attached. (to ensure proper swim action and also when a fish hooks up, the bait swings up the line out of the way while fighting the fish)
The true Swim Bait experts can pick a good bait out of the dozens of Swim Baits on the market today just be analyzing these factors after a few casts. That's why we enlisted the help of US Open Winner and Southern California Big Bass expert John Kerr to help design the new "Double D" Swim Bait. After extended design and testing, the Double D was born and has already received the stamp of approval of several SoCal Swim Bait experts (who wanted to keep the baits quite but we wouldn't let them) not to mention the fourteen pound bass that John caught on one of his first outings with the new production Double D's.
